David Stobbs

David is a professional performance coach holding qualifications from both the British Academy of Fencing and the British Fencing Association. He was the Northwest region's coach educator for several years and he is currently the head coach for the UCLAN fencing club and fencing master at Scarisbrick Hall School.

David started coaching in 1994 to help develop his son Jonathan's fencing career and Jonathan became David's first international success. Since then David has mentored several other students to international level for both foil and épée.

Richard Michell

Richard is a newly qualified level 1 épée coach with the British Academy of Fencing. He started fencing as a pupil at Scarisbrick Hall School where David coached him from raw beginner to cadet international. During his cadet fencing career Richard was the under 14 Northwest Junior Series winner, twice the under 16 Northwest champion, national winner of the under 15 Leon Paul Junior Series and twice represented the Northwest in the Cadet Winton Cup. In 2015 Richard was selected for the British cadet team to fence at the German international in Bonn.

Paul Michell

Paul is also a level 1 épée coach with the British Academy of Fencing. He is a keen club fencer having enjoyed recreational foil and épée fencing for many years. As Richard's father he has extensive experience of managing a cadet fencing career and founded Scarisbrick Swords as a way of providing a starting ground for other young people attracted to this sport within the local community.
